DENVER, CO (August 4, 2021) – Carilion Clinic has joined the fast-growing HealthEco platform for health systems focused on building innovative new business models and alternative revenue streams.

Carilion Clinic, headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, joins six other healthcare systems: Froedtert Health and Medical College of Wisconsin in Wisconsin, LCMC Health in Louisiana, Stanford Health Care in California,  University Hospitals in Ohio, and VCU Health in Virginia. By working with HealthEco, healthcare systems collaborate to generate new revenues and boost margins at a time when provider financial performance is under more strain than ever.

“Organic growth and new revenue opportunities are increasingly more difficult for health systems to achieve on their own,” said HealthEco Managing Partner Jami Youmans. “Our health system partners are actively working together on meaningful growth opportunities.”

“We are excited to welcome Carilion Clinic to HealthEco. They are a health system we have long admired for their creativity and innovative spirit,” said Hathaway. “Our HealthEco partners are excited to have their perspective, as well as their broad foundation of ambulatory services that complement the hospitals in the continuum of care to create alternative revenue models that will flourish across their well-built infrastructure.”

HealthEco’s mission is to create sustainable financial health for health system partners, and its model of bringing together health systems from across the country has great appeal to partners within the collaborative.

“Carilion Clinic is organized around our physician-led commitments to clinical services for our communities today and education, research and innovation promoting improved access and affordability for the future,” said Don Halliwill, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Carilion. “The HealthEco team and partner health systems share and promote forward-thinking opportunities to support our clinicians’ innovative mindset. This opportunity fits our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Carilion Innovation is helping us find and deliver better ways to fulfill our mission.”
